As a patient at Benefit Medical Group you have important rights that ensure you receive the highest quality of health care. Benefit Medical Group wants to ensure understanding and communication between patients and staff. That’s why we created patient rights and responsibilities – to illustrate our dedication to delivering the best care at all times. Please be sure to speak up if you have questions or concerns, or don’t understand something about your care.
Patient Rights
- Access to Care: You have the right to receive impartial medical treatment regardless of age, race marital status, creed, religion, sex, national origin, disability, payment sources or communicable disease.
- Respect: You have the right to considerate and respectful care at all times under all circumstances. Personnel have been instructed to address patients uniformly by the appropriate courtesy title.
- Consent: You have the right to informed participation in decisions involving your health care. You will not be subject to any procedure without your voluntary and understanding consent and will be informed of who is responsible for performing the procedure.
- Information: You have the right to access, inspect and receive copies of your health information in a reasonable time frame.
- Privacy: You have the right to expect that any discuss involving your case will be conducted discreetly and care will be delivered with reasonable privacy.
- Safety: You have the right to receive care in a safe setting, free from abuse or harassment and participate in all decisions about your treatment.
- Ethics: You have the right to access pastoral care and spiritual services and to receive sensitivity regarding issues related to care at the end of life.
Patient Responsibilities
- Up-to-date Information: You are responsible for providing – to the best of your knowledge – accurate and complete information about complaints, past illnesses, hospitalizations and medications.
- Refusal of Treatment: You are responsible for your actions if you refuse treatment or do not follow the practitioner’s instructions.
- Symptom Changes: You are responsible for reporting unexpected changes in your condition.
- Expectations: You are responsible for making known whether you clearly comprehend a contemplated course of action and what is expected of you.
- Compliance with Instructions: You are responsible for following the treatment plan recommended by the practitioner primarily responsible for his/her care.
- Financials: You are responsible for assuring that the financial obligations of your health care are fulfilled as promptly as possible.
- Follow Benefit Medical Group rules and regulations.
- Ask about follow-up care and make sure he/she understands discharge instructions before leaving Benefit Medical Group.
